It was just as bad on Friday evening. I ended up riding my bike downtown due to 30 minutes of no drivers and timeouts on several apps. My friend couldn’t ride that far on his bike and was stuck trying various options.

Having 13 apps doesn’t make us a better city. It leaves us vulnerable with too few drivers on each platform and a consumer that has to know about and cycle through 13 different apps trying to find the elusive driver.

We failed Austin and just as important: we failed hundreds of thousands of visitors to our city. Drinking and driving is back and better than ever. I witnessed a few firsthand the other day.
